Details that matter on a wood floor

The 4 mm (Allora) wear layer on Garrison leaves room for future sanding. Worth planning for: if the floor gets refinished, the vent should be part of the conversation, so tell us up front.

Board thickness is the detail people forget. Garrison is 5/8 inch, and a vent face that is meant to sit flush needs to match that height. A leftover board is the easiest way to measure it.

We price hardwood vents per job right now, which is why the product page shows no price. A quote request with the Garrison collection, color, board thickness and opening sizes gets you a real number.

Garrison vent questions

What if I refinish my Garrison floor later?

Tell us when you request the quote. We'll talk through how the vent face fits into a future sand and refinish.

My Garrison floor is a few years old. Does that matter?

Wood mellows with light, so an older Garrison floor may not match a new sample. Keep a spare board from your own install if you have one.

What sizes can you make a Garrison vent in?

2x10, 2x12, 2x14, 4x10, 4x12, 4x14, 6x10, 6x12 and 6x14 inches. Matching cold air returns come in 6x20, 6x24, 6x30, 6x36, 8x20, 8x24, 8x30 and 8x36 inches.

How thick is Garrison flooring?

5/8 inch, per the manufacturer. Measure a spare board to be sure, since lines differ.

Why is there no price on the Garrison vent?
