Getting the fit right

A floating click floor such as Kährs is not fastened to the subfloor. Ask whoever installed it how the register openings were cut and how much gap was left; the opening size is the number we build to.

Kährs uses its Woodloc joint, a mechanical click that lets the boards float. On a floating floor the opening size as cut is what matters, so measure the hole, not the old cover.

Kährs sits at 13 to 15 mm, which is a good deal thicker than most vinyl plank. A flush vent has to land level with the top of the boards, so measure a spare piece with a tape or caliper and put that on the quote request.
