4x10 or 4x12: which one do you need?
4x10
4 x 10 inches
The size we're asked for most. Measure the duct opening in the floor, not the old register, and use this size if the opening is about 4 inches by 10 inches.
Most ordered4x12
4 x 12 inches
The second most ordered size. Same rule: measure the opening itself, and choose this one if it comes out to about 4 by 12 inches.

4x10 and 4x12 vent FAQ
Are 4x10 and 4x12 the most common vent sizes?
For LVP and LVT floors, yes. About 44% of the LVP and LVT vents ordered from us between October 2024 and October 2026 were 4x10, and about 37% were 4x12.
How do I know whether I need a 4x10 or a 4x12?
Remove the old register and measure the duct opening in the floor, width by length. Order the size that matches the opening. If it falls between sizes, contact us with the exact measurements before ordering.
How thick does my flooring need to be?
At least 5 mm. If your plank has an attached pad, the pad counts toward that 5 mm.
How strong is the vent?
The vent face is mounted on a metal-reinforced backer, and our vents are tested to 1,200 lbs on a 2-inch puck.
Can I get a matching cold air return too?
Yes. Returns come in 6x20, 6x24, 6x30, 6x36, 8x20, 8x24, 8x30 and 8x36 inches, built from your flooring the same way.
Do you make these for hardwood floors?
Hardwood vents are quote-only and have no price listed. Use the hardwood vent quote page and include the sizes you need.
