LVP Vent Covers Made From Your Own Flooring

An LVP vent cover from Vents.com is made from your own spare vinyl plank, so the color, grain and bevel match the floor around it. It sits flush with the surface, comes in 9 sizes, and starts at $135. It is not a metal HVAC register in a close color.
How an LVP vent cover differs from a metal register
Most floor vents are stamped metal registers. They come in a handful of stock finishes, and on a vinyl plank floor they tend to stand out. A vent cover made from your LVP takes a different route: we cut it from a plank or tile of the flooring you installed, so the pattern carries across the vent face and the vent sits level with the planks.

Sizes and prices for LVP and LVT vents
You order by the duct opening, not by the old register, so measure the hole in the floor. A 4x10 or a 4x12 covers most homes; together they made up 81% of the LVP and LVT vents we built between October 2024 and October 2026. The full chart and measuring steps are in our floor vent sizes guide.
Prices are for a vent made from your own LVP or LVT, as listed in October 2026. The returns use an egg-crate pattern for more open area; see matching cold air return covers.

How ordering works
- Keep a spare plank or tileHold on to a few spares from your install. Your flooring needs to be at least 5 mm thick. That's the plank itself, not counting any attached pad.
- Measure the duct openingLift out the old register and measure the hole, width first, then length. The cover is bigger than the opening, so do not measure it. Our measuring guide covers thickness and vents near walls.
- Order and send a plankChoose your size on the LVP vent product page, then send a spare plank or tile so we build the vent from your actual floor.
- Install it flushSet the vent in the opening so it sits level with the floor. The installation instructions call for at least ¼ inch of overlap on every side of the opening.
If the floor has not gone in yet, order first. Your installer can use the vent frame as a template and cut the planks around it before they lock together. Our guide on when to order floor vents lays out the timing, and flush vents on floating LVP floors covers how to keep the expansion gap intact.
Works with any LVP brand and any color
Because the vent comes from your plank, it does not depend on a brand list. It also works when your color has been discontinued, since all we need is a piece of the floor. If you want to see how we handle a specific line, start from the LVP and LVT brands page or, for example, the COREtec vents collection. Not sure of your COREtec color? Find it by style number.
Furniture and airflow
People often ask whether a chair or table can sit on a flush vent. Ours are steel-backed and tested to 1,200 lbs on a 2-inch puck, so legs are fine. You still should not cover a supply vent with a rug or sofa. The details are in can you put furniture over floor vents. If you are weighing airflow, this guide explains open area and what actually restricts air.

Frequently asked questions
What is an LVP vent cover?
It is a floor vent made from your own luxury vinyl plank (or LVT tile) instead of stamped metal. It sits flush with the floor and carries the same color, grain and bevel as the planks around it. Vents.com builds them on a metal backer in 9 sizes, starting at $135.
How is it different from a regular HVAC vent cover?
A regular register is a stock metal part, usually white, brown or black, that sits on top of the floor with its own edge. An LVP vent cover is cut from your flooring, so it blends in instead of standing out, and it sits level with the surface. It still does the same job: air passes through the slots to the duct below.
How much do LVP vent covers cost?
A supply vent starts at $135 for 2x10, 2x12, 2x14, 4x10 and 4x12. A 4x14 is $175, a 6x10 is $185, and 6x12 and 6x14 are $190. Matching cold air returns are $363 for 6-inch widths and $391 for 8-inch widths. Prices are as listed in October 2026.
Will the vent match my exact floor?
Yes, because it is made from a plank or tile of your actual floor rather than a close color. That works for any brand, and for colors that have been discontinued. Keep a few spare planks from the install so you have one to send.
How thick does my LVP need to be?
At least 5 mm. That's the plank itself, not counting any attached pad. Most planks sold today are thicker than 5 mm.
Can I put furniture on an LVP vent cover?
Chair and table legs are fine on it. The vents are steel-backed and tested to 1,200 lbs on a 2-inch puck. It is still best not to cover a supply vent with a rug, sofa or bed, because that blocks the air.
Does a flush LVP vent restrict airflow?
Not by itself. Any cover has less open area than the bare duct, and a vent with long, evenly spaced slots can pass about as much air as a standard register. Closed dampers, rugs and blocked returns usually cause more trouble than the vent face.
Can I order after my floor is already installed?
Yes. It is a retrofit, so the opening is cut into the finished floor, which takes more care than cutting loose planks. Ordering before install lets your installer use the vent frame as a template.
Do you make vents for hardwood?
Yes, but hardwood vents are quoted per job rather than priced online. Use the hardwood vent quote page and tell us your floor and sizes.
