Replace Ugly Floor Vents With Ones That Match

Tired of the vent that sticks out of your new floor? Answer two quick questions below and go straight to the right fix.

Flush vent made from matching flooring replacing a metal register

1. What does your vent look like now?

White metal register

The most common complaint. It shows dirt, dents easily and stands out on a wood-look floor.

Brass or bronze

Often left over from an older floor and rarely matches the new one.

Painted to match

Paint chips at the edges and the register still sits raised above the floor.

All three are replaced the same way: a flush vent made from your own flooring. Your answer to the next question decides the path.

2. What floor do you have?

Vinyl plank or LVT

Priced online. Send one spare plank per vent, at least 5 mm thick not counting an attached pad.

Hardwood

Quoted per job. Planks need to be at least 4 inches wide and 5 mm thick.

Not sure

Check the edge of a spare plank or the carton label. Vinyl feels slightly soft and has a printed look under the wear layer.

Questions

Can I keep my old vent and just paint it?

You can, but painted metal registers chip and still sit on top of the floor. A flush vent made from your flooring removes the raised edge entirely.

What if my floor is hardwood?

Hardwood vents are quoted per job. The planks need to be at least 4 inches wide and at least 5 mm thick.

What if I don't know my floor brand?

Send a photo or a spare plank with your order note and we will work from that.
