Hardwood Floor Vents and Registers Made From Your Own Floor
A hardwood floor vent from Vents.com is built from a plank of your own floor, so the species, stain and grain match and the vent sits level with the boards. Hardwood vents are priced by quote, one job at a time.

Off-the-shelf wood registers come in a few species and stains, and they rarely match a finished floor. Ours start with a board from the floor you are installing, so the vent reads as part of the floor instead of something set on top of it.

What your hardwood needs
At least 4 inches wide
Narrower strips would have to be glued together to make the frame, and that does not hold up over time, so we can't build from them.
At least 5 mm thick
Measured on the plank itself. Most engineered hardwood is well over that. Check the carton or spec sheet.
One spare plank
We build the vent from a piece of your actual floor, so hold a board back when the floor goes in.
Flush, steel-backed, in 9 sizes
The vent drops into the duct opening and sits level with the boards, with no raised lip to trip on or catch a vacuum. Each vent has a steel backer and is tested to 1,200 lbs on a 2-inch puck, so furniture legs and foot traffic are fine.

Hardwood brands we build for most
These are the hardwood brands that come up most on our vent orders. If yours is not here, look it up on our hardwood brands page.
Mirage hardwood vents
- Tongue-and-groove engineered
- 3/8, 1/2 or 3/4 inch thick
Our most-ordered hardwood brand. Mirage makes solid hardwood too, so confirm which one you have.
DuChateau hardwood vents
- Engineered European oak
- 9/16 to 5/8 inch thick
Tongue-and-groove boards that are usually nailed, stapled or glued down.
Monarch Plank hardwood vents
- 5/8 inch (some 3/4 inch)
- 4 to 6 mm wear layer
A thick wear layer means the floor may be refinished later. Mention it on your quote request.
Cali hardwood vents
- Varietals: 1/2 inch engineered
- Unstained species
Varietals planks carry no stain, so name the species and color on your request.
Shaw hardwood vents
- Repel: 1/2 inch thick
- Nail, staple, glue or float
Some Shaw lines have a thin face, so matching the current finish is the whole job. Send the exact color name.
Questions
How wide and thick does my hardwood need to be?
At least 4 inches wide and at least 5 mm thick, measured on the plank itself. Narrower strips would have to be glued together to make the frame, and that does not hold up, so we can't build from them.
Why is there no price on hardwood vents?
Hardwood vents are made to order and priced by quote. Send your floor details and sizes and we reply by email with a quote.
Do I need to send you a plank?
Yes. We build the vent from a piece of your actual floor, which is how the species, stain and grain end up matching.
When should I order hardwood vents?
Ideally before the floor is installed, so the installer can fit the floor around the vent. See when to order vents before your install.
What size vent do I need?
Measure the duct opening in the floor, not the old register. Hardwood vents come in 2x10, 2x12, 2x14, 4x10, 4x12, 4x14, 6x10, 6x12 and 6x14 inches. Our measuring guide walks through it.
